2024 Tournament Information

Participants sign up as individuals and the tournament director assigns two large, evenly ranked teams (Chili Roja or Chili Verde), which compete against each other in a variety of lawn bowling disciplines which may include singles, pairs, triples and fours in the morning and afternoon.

  • Deadline for entry: Thursday, October 17, 2024
  • Entry fee: $12.00
  • Draw time: 8:30 AM
  • Start time: 9:00 AM
  • Attire: Casual matching team colors Roja or Verde
  • Tournament directors: Rob Behncke & Levi Barnard

Registration

We can only accept an even number of entries for this tournament and half-day registration is an option, but only if we can keep teams even. Full-day registration is preferred. Substitutes welcome as needed. Log into: https://app.milwaukeelawnbowls.com/tournament and click the Purchase button in the Chilibowl listing under available tournaments and follow the prompts. When you are done you should see your Chilibowl entry under My Tournaments. Please bring your $12 cash payment to the clubhouse and place cash only in the gold Chilibowl envelope on the desk prior to the tournament or on the day of. 

Chili Entry

Our fourth annual chili contest will offer participants the chance to vote for their favorite chili and crown a chili champ (by vote) next to the bowling team champs (by performance). The entry fee supports the day-long chili brunch. And if you are not a chili fan, we will have light breakfast basics available as well as Mac N Cheese at lunch. If you would like to prepare a chili this year, please email Levi Barnard at: 6twenty5@gmail.com specifying the type of chili you will offer. The first five accepted chilis are entered into the chili champ contest voted on by participants. Chili contestants supply a large crockpot of chili which can be plugged in at the clubhouse and must bring serving utensils and any condiments or garnishes to compliment. Please also mail Levi if you can provide your famous Mac N Cheese dish. All Chili or Mac N Cheese entries receive free tournament entry.

  • Start Time: 9:00 with breakfast at 8:15
  • Attire: Matching team colors or uniforms

  • Entry Fee: $12.00 cash in advance or day of tournament

Registration

  • Must be a member of MLPLBA.

New for 2024 The Resource for Bowlers (pdf) has been released. This excellent 50 page guide introduces bowlers to the game. It provides basic information about the game, hints and clues on proper bowl handling and gives some basic tactical advice.

Tuesday Odd Couple Pairs League 2024

Hi to all joining our Tuesday League from your co-directors Ken Jaglinski and Gary
Dalton! We are looking forward to a fun filled evening of Lawn Bowls, Friendly
Competition, Good Weather, Lively Conversation and a Pleasant Beverage (or 2).

Starting May 28th there will be pre-game lessons for those who want to sharpen their
skills and learn more about the game. They will begin at 6 PM and last to 6:45.

Our league officially begins May 28th . Please show up to play at 6:45 PM. Enter the
clubhouse and grab the tag with your name on it from the board located behind the
desk. Place your tag in either the SKIP (experienced) bucket, or the LEED (newbies)
bucket whichever level you feel more comfortable. We will draw from each bucket at
random to make teams. We will usually play pairs but may also play Triples, Floaters,
Cutthroat and Singles depending on the number of people attending. Starting at 7 PM,
we will play 12 ends to a match. However, teams may choose to play 10 ends
depending on their circumstances.

Scoring will be 4 points for a win, 2 points for a tie, and 1 point for a loss. We will post
standings weekly on the bulletin board and will total the points at the end of each 9-
week period. There may be surprises for the top three folks in each category but who
knows?

Dates to Remember

Pot-Luck Party night – June 18, July 23, August 27 and Sept 24th.

Please bring food to share. Expect about 25 people attending. We will begin early at 6
PM and nosh throughout the evening.

Incidentals

In case of inclement weather, we will send out either an email or text around 6 PM
letting you know of the cancellation.

Blind Pairs Tournament Results

The first tournament of the season is in the books. A total of 28 members participated in the Blind Pairs tournament this past weekend, the best turnout in years. Bowlers were designated as Skips or Leads based on skill level and played four matches with different partners each round. Points were awarded for each win. Congratulations to the winners:

  • 3rd Place Skip: Gary Dalton

And thank you to Dale Parsons for directing and running the Blind Pairs tournament this year. These volunteers helped make the tournament a success!

Central Division Playdowns 2024

There are two events, Pairs and Singles. Men and women compete separately. Winners of each event qualify and agree to play in the Bowls USA National Championships, which will be September 7-13 in Milwaukee, WI. Members of the Central Division of Bowls USA are
eligible to participate.

Pairs Event

  • June 22-23, 2024 at Milwaukee Lake Park
  • $70/team or $35/person
  • Registration deadline is June 17, 2024

Singles Event

  • July 13-14, 2024 at Milwaukee Lake Park
  • $35/person
  • Registration deadline is July 8, 2024
